What a day. The wind was blowing strong from the west early on, and as the day progressed it strengthend to a switching south westerly ! The wind chill was another thing to contend with too. It was bloody cold! Many had concerns that the target may snap as the wind was hitting them straight on. There were a few early on errors recorded, we put them down to the wind blowing the insides of the targets around. As the day got on a decision was made to lower E6 and E8 to save them from the wind.
Well down to those that shot today. It was a great effort!
I must make special mention to Juliette ( 12 year daughter of Bill C ) She shot very well in very tough conditions, not getting flustered and concentrating well on each shot she took. Well done !
No doubt about it, today’s weather conditions were extremely challenging with the BOM recording an 80km/hr gust at 1.15pm. Those of us who were ambivalent about the conditions didn’t do too badly – our scores correlated with effective load development and ability to read the flags. In my case, I have Peter C (an accomplished FS shooter) to thank for my 2nd stage score – watching the direction of a particular flag made all the difference. The QLD Kings is just 4 weeks away and those of us competing in it, will take every opportunity to get as much practice in as possible.
