NSW King’s Series 2026 — Club Wrap-Up

The 2026 NSW King’s Series ran from Wednesday 24 to Sunday 28 June at the ANZAC Rifle Range, Malabar, and it was a genuine test of nerve and wind-reading from start to finish. Club members put in a strong showing across the disciplines.

Conditions

Malabar earned its reputation this year. Sitting out on the exposed headland above the Tasman, the range copped a classic Sydney winter set-up: cool days hovering around 13°C, persistent rain that built through the week, and a gusty coastal wind that never really let the flags settle. The wet weather peaked right on the business end of the meeting, with rain over both the Saturday and Sunday and humidity climbing into the 80s. Anyone who kept their scores together across those conditions earned every point — reading a shifting fishtail on a wet mound is about as hard as this sport gets.

Team Shoot — City vs Country (Sunday)

A big result to close out the meeting: the club’s City side took out the City/Country team shoot on Sunday. Trent H was in the winning team representing the FTR City Team, and Mat S flew the flag in the Sporter City Team. Winning a teams match in that weather comes down to trust — good wind calls, tight coaching, and everyone doing their job on the firing point.

Day 2 Aggregate

Justin P capped a strong meeting by placing 2nd in the Day 2 Aggregate in Sporter Open — a standout performance given how the conditions turned on the second day.

Stage Prizes

Trent H picked up two stage prizes, at 600m and 700m — both distances where the wind was doing its best to spoil the party.

King’s Aggregate

6th — Justin P (SPO)
9th — Trent H (FTR)
10th — Brendan U (SPC)
12th — Mat S (SPO)

Grand Aggregate

4th — Mat S (SPO)
7th — Trent H (FTR)

Wrap-Up

A tough, wet, windy King’s Series — the kind that separates good shooting from good luck. A club team win in the City/Country, a 2nd in the Day 2 Aggregate to Justin P, stage prizes to Trent H across the middle distances, and multiple placings in both the King’s and Grand Aggregates from across the club. A solid meeting all round, and a reminder that Malabar always keeps you honest.
